Village Candle Case Study

THE PROJECT

Village Candle is a leading national scented candle e-commerce store launched by a husband and wife duo that prides itself on producing handcrafted, quality candles from their home state of Maine. Village Candle “friends” can purchase a variety of scents that range from laundry linen to caramel almond cookie.

Village Candle was looking for new ways to drive traffic to their site and ultimately, increase sales. With the recent launch of Pinterest, owner, Sally Aldrich, felt this was the ideal opportunity to push their product to a bigger potential reach.

THE STRATEGY

Anna Crowe and Village Candle teamed up to develop an innovative promotional social media campaign that centered around the goal of increasing traffic volume to the site as well as increase brand awareness.

Our team found this to be a big opportunity to build a social media plan that included “Pin It to Win It Sweepstakes” that offered three Facebook Fans the grand prize of twelve 16oz. Village Candle fragrances of their choice with a retail value of $200.00 each. Village Candle’s Facebook Fans were asked to share their favorite candles by repinning these scents onto a custom pin board that utilized the brand name and searchable hashtags.

This sweepstakes was coupled with a Facebook advertising strategy positioned toward Village Candle’s competitors.

THE RESULTS

By creating an engaging promotion that was easy to use and offered value with a highly targeted ad campaign, Village Candle was able to achieve cross-promotional success on not only Pinterest and Facebook, but their site as well.

We were able to gain a new community of candle lovers while still able to intrigue our loyal customer base. Our brand ambassadors were able to spread the world about the campaign that led us to increase Village Candle’s Facebook fan base by 5,630 Fans and their Pinterest page by 241 Followers in less than 3-weeks. Village Candle’s website received 83.54% of referral traffic from Pinterest and 54.26% of referral traffic from Facebook.

By providing Village Candle’s customers with a new and exciting avenue to connect with the brand, we were able to achieve our goals and beyond.
